Custom Engineered Barrier Sealant Films

Our barrier sealant films feature customizable levels of aroma, chemical, moisture, and oxygen barrier properties. Our technical experts work directly with our customers to identify crucial metrics, such as moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) or oxygen transmission rate (OTR).

IEF’s barrier sealant films are compatible with a wide range of flexible packaging configurations and machinery and feature exceptional flatness and gauge consistency to help our customers maintain high efficiency throughout their converting process. Our films also feature excellent physical properties, including high puncture resistance and tear performance.

Relative Barrier Performance

Our barrier film product portfolio includes materials such as high-density polyethylene, nylon, and ethyl vinyl alcohol (EVOH), each offering unique barrier benefits:

  • High Density Polyethylene or Polypropylene - Ideal for moisture barrier formulations. These films offer better oxygen barrier properties compared to low-density polyethylene or polypropylene but are not as effective as nylon or EVOH for oxygen permeability.
  • Nylon - Suitable for oxygen barrier formulations. Outperforms high-density polyethylene or polypropylene but is not as effective as EVOH. Additionally, nylon provides strength and durability to barrier films.
  • EVOH - Ideal for oxygen barrier formulations. EVOH outperforms high-density polyethylene or polypropylene and nylon. This material can be brittle and is often used in the core of barrier films.

This range of materials allows us to create customized barrier solutions for diverse applications.
